Petten Consulting has developed and worked with performance measurement frameworks and logic models through several evaluation projects. Most recently, we worked with Right To Play on a baseline evaluation using a comprehensive and expansive performance measurement framework. A significant portion of the project was dedicated to aligning data collection tools and an analysis framework with the performance measurement framework.
Along with Jenna van Draanen, Nick has been working with a diabetes education program in a community health setting for the last few years creating measurement frameworks, refining indicators, and creating measurement tools. Various life skills measurements and behavioural change indicators were used in the creation of the tools that take into account the diversity of lived experiences and cultural realities of program beneficiaries.
Jenna has also designed tools for measurement and evaluation for several education programs including the UW Directions Aboriginal Education Program, the Academic Achievement Centre, and the Get Set Learn program through Project Read – giving each organization the tools to conduct their own internal evaluations in the future and the confidence that they are accurately capturing what they intend to measure. She was also involved in several large metrics development projects including with the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute to develop appropriate measures for capturing short, medium, and long-term knowledge translation outcomes. This work led the organization to adopt a monitoring framework that captured their intended outcomes at multiple levels over time, across different disciplines. Finally, she worked on a provincial health system-change project with the Drug Treatment Funding Program in Ontario: assisting the group as they transitioned to a new drug treatment funding strategy.
